Hanging with the 'Rents

Hello!!! Long time no blog (there may be a correlation between this and mom's final schedule). I am almost 14 months old and as busy as ever. I don't think I have any new tricks, just getting better at the old ones! I am talking more and more, walking more and more, and learning to express myself better. I have gotten "more" down pat!! I really like to point to show Mom and Dad what it is I want. I have been walking outside a lot more too and it is great, as long as I don't have to be in the grass because I don't like to get dirty or maybe it is the uneven terrain. The sunshine sure has been great though!

My best friend is definitely my dog. I love Darwin so much!! Mom bought me a little stuffed animal that looks kind of like him and I like to pick it up and squeeze it!! The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is look for Darwin. When he is outside I go to the window and pound on it until he comes over to see me. He is a really good sport because I can get kind of rough... pulling his hair, etc.

My hair is getting pretty long and it is still curly! I must have gotten it from my Grandma Lisa or my Grandpa Ed. I am also getting my molars which HURT!!!! All in all, I am really starting to look like a little boy and less like a baby. I can't wait to grow taller so I can reach all the stuff Mom and Dad try to keep away from me.

Other news.... I got to play with a bunch of women at Danika's wedding shower, hang out with Grandma Pam while my parents went out for Mike's birthday, and am looking forward to a weekend in Sunriver with Gina and Andy!! Next Friday is my great-grandpa's 83rd birthday and my mom's whole family is getting together for dinner. I really like seeing my great aunts and great uncles, so I can't wait!! April 4th I have to have surgery which is not going to be fun but the doctors promise they do this procedure all the time and my parents shouldn't worry too much.

1yr Old and Lovin' It!!

So as most of you readers know, I recently had a bithday and am now a whole year old!!!! I didn't celebrate much on the actual day because I was really sick :-( I am feeling much better and have been trying out all sorts of new stuff to celebrate my foray into toddlerdom......

Because I am getting older, Mom decided it is time for me to try spoon feeding myself. It was soooooo fun!!! I proceeded to smear it all over my face, my tray, and my clothes. How cool is that?? I manage to get some food in my mouth and I am pretty good with a spoon.

As soon as I was feeling better, Mom and Dad decided it was time to take a little adventure to rejuvenate. So we went to the beach! This was not my first time but it was the first time I got to run in the sand. I laughed and ran all over the place!!! I was kept trying to get into the water and had my parents chasing me all over. I can not wait to go back!!

Yesterday, we went to lunch with one of Moms friends from Planned Parenthood and then I got to go see where she works!! Her boss Christina is very nice!!!! And, Carmen was great too.

Today I went to the Portland Chinese Classical Gardens with my Uncle Mike and Mom. She got some neat plants and I got to run around!! I really like to play outside, and the weather today is just perfect for that. In fact, I think there is some fun to be had before it gets dark!

Bubbles or Cake? Bubbles of Course!!

Mmmmm bubbles! Maybe I am kind of silly but I have tested cake and I have tested bubbles, and I have to say I really prefer bubbles. I suppose this may need some explanation...... Lets start with some fun updates.

I am officially a walker now. I spend more time on my two feet than on my knees!!! I even walked outside the other day for the first time. I still fall and crawl sometimes, but it is so great to be cruising along standing up!! The things I have access to now, it is a whole new world!

I have been talking a lot more and eating more and more grown up food. I even boycott the jar food because I want what Mom and Dad are eating. I love tofu, oranges, corn, and yogurt. I have also been trying to play with Darwin with out biting him. He is so fun. I really like to pull his tail. I wonder what he would like better? My biting or tail pulling?

I am fast approaching my first birthday, how exciting is that?????? So hard to believe I have been blogging for a whole year!!! Thanks to all of you for keeping up with my growing, changing, and turning into a little man!!! It has truly been an amazing year.

Busy busy busy me

Phew! It is finally calming down a bit at my house..... Christmas is over, the new year is here, and NFL playoffs are well under way. Mom goes back to school today and starts her work with Planned Parenthood on Tuesday. Uncle Greg has been in his new house for about 2 weeks and Dad is working on the house. All the Christmas stuff is put away, so the house is Liam proof again. Everything is getting back to normal.

I am walking a lot more and with out being bribed!! I think I am really starting to get the hang of it. Of course, I am still wobbely but much better than before. I can step sideways and forward, bend at my waist, and stand up from a sit. Pretty cool stuff! I am WAY fast when I hold onto furniture.

My other favorite new activity is to test Mom and Dad. There are certain cupboards and drawers that I know I am not supposed to get into and when I do, they tell me no. My response has been to look at them, smile very very big and go ahead with whatever it was I was doing before. So far this hasn't been working as well as I would like, hence the use of the tantrum. Dad calls it my washing machine dance. I fling my arms up in the air and flail wildly!!!!

We went on a super long bike ride this weekend. We went all the way to REI and then back home. I slept most of the way. I am really starting to like my helmet. Devaki is coming over to watch me on Thursday and she is going to take me on a ride too!! So fun! Because Mom is going to be working Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, Devaki is going to start coming over every Thursday and play with me. I can not wait!!! If anyone is interested in Tuesday afternoons, please let Mom know.

Here is a picture of me at bath time, quite possibly my favorite time of day (besides morning when I play in bed with Mom and Dad). I keep hearing how skinny I am getting... I think it is because I am so busy with my crawling, climbing, and walking. I love keeping my parents busy chasing me all over!!

I am eating pretty much everything that big people eat now. Last night we went to dinner at Uncle Greg's and I had spaghetti with garlic bread, mmm mmm!! I still think yogurt is my favorite food but I am pretty good about trying everything. I had a grilled cheese sandwhich for the first time this weekend and I can not wait to try milk. That happens after my 1st birthday, which is less than a month away!!! Unbelievable!! Me, a whole year old.... how cool is that?

My First Christmas!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!!!! My goodness it has been a very busy couple of weeks... it seems as though I haven't had a second to sit down and blog about my adventures until now.

I have done everything from tree hunting to riding a train to ripping through mounds of paper. I have got to meet some of my moms old friends, Clara came back from Moldova and Shainah (who I know from before) came in from Chicago. We went to Zoo Lights with some of my dads family and Emily. It was so much fun, even though if you were to look at all the pictures of my face it looks like I am scared. It was very chilly but the lights were very bright and the train around the zoo was great.

I went to dinner at Clara's parents house and the Falks house. I love getting to see everyone!!! It is just great.

Christmas was so incredible... so many boxes, so many toys and so much paper to rip through. We went to my dad's aunt and uncles house for Christmas Eve and then to my grandparents house. Christmas morning we spent here at home and uncle and grandpa came over. Then we went to my great-grandpas house with Mike. I am just now getting back on my normal sleep schedule but it was definitely worth it - so great to see everyone!!

I got a rocket from my great-grandpa that talks to me and lets me know when astroids are near, I think that might be a tie with the cell phone uncle Greg got me as my favorite new toy. Everything I got is great, though, so it is really hard for me to pick... I think it is best to play with one for a little bit and then another and another and another...

Hello and happy holidays to everyone! I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the frosty weather. I have been very good. I have mastered a new smile that seriously stretches from one of my ears to the other! It is great, and it gives me a chance to show off my eight teeth. Mom said she promises to post some pictures of it soon.

This is going to be my first Christmas and I have been having a lot of fun preparing. Dad put lights on our house and Mom has been busy baking cookies and decorating. We got to go out and cut down a tree too!! It is so tall and is currently being protected by my baby jail... if I could just figure out a way in now because there looks to be a lot of neat stuff for me to grab.

Other news.... I got my first ear infection, have had a couple play dates, met my Mom's friend Clara for the first time, and got to ride in my new bike trailor!!! We went to dinner at Margarets house and I got to test out my smile a lot! It has just been a lot of fun running all over. Here are some pictures of me in the trailor with my new helmet and hanging out with my friend Indy.

I have also been busy walking. I am up to 4 steps, which doesn't sound like much but let me tell you, it is hard!! I usually take a couple, get my balance, and take a few more before I fall. Today I was trying to walk all over the place!! Ok, it is bath time for me. Merry Christmas everyone!!!

A Big Adventure and San Diego Part 1

Hello, hello! This has been some week!! It all started on Thursday with my first Thanksgiving. We went to Kevin and Mary's house for dinner. Aunt Mary made me this very cute pilgrims hat in celebration. I had such a good time seeing everyone and getting to try all the yummy food. I got to sit in my new high chair that clips onto the table. I spent the whole time during dinner kicking and rocking the table. It made me laugh to see Mom, Dad and Mike jumping to try and catch spilling liquids. Because Mike's family lives far away he came with us, my great-grandpa liked him so much he invited him to come to Christmas too!

On Friday morning we got up very early and Grandpa Rick drove us to the airportso we could go to San Diego for Anne and Ben's wedding. I have never been to the airport and it was neat to see everyone running around with all their luggage. We ran into a couple of Mom's friends and then set off for the gate. Our first leg was to San Francisco and luckily the plane wasn't very full. I got to have my own seat. My parents were a little worried how I would react because I have a bit of a cold and have never done it before. I slept the whole way! They didn't need to worry at all!! I woke up after the plane landed and then got to play in SFO for a bit, until we loaded the next plane for San Diego. We arrived in San Diego, got our rental car, and were off to find Anne so Mom could get to the rehearsal in time. After the rehearsal, we all went to dinner on a big boat that went around the marina. After dinner we were all so tired it was off to bed at the big house on the beach!!

Saturday was all sorts of chaos! It was mom's birthday and Anne's wedding. I spent the morning with Mom and Dad, until Mom had to go off for wedding stuff. While she was away Dad and I met up with Danika and Ben. We went to Balboa Park and walked all over (I slept most of the time). Then it was off to La Jolla for the wedding. It was a very nice wedding and there were so many babies to play with!!! I had a very good time. After the reception, it was time to go back to the house to sleep.

My favorite day so far has definitely been Sunday! We went to the San Diego Zoo with Ben and Danika. As my friend Ben says it is way better than our zoo. I saw panda bears, giant gorillas, monkeys, polar bears, koalas, lions, bears, and so much more. Again the orangutans were my favorite, they even had a baby one!!! He was about my size but much better at getting around. I had so so so much fun at the zoo!!!!!

Today we are heading over to Coronado and Littly Italy to explore some more. It has been sunny until this morning when the rains came in. Oh, well... we are still going to get in as much of San Diego as we can!! Got to run, we are off for some pizza!

Play Time Galore!

I have been having so much fun since my mom discovered UrbanMamas!! I went to play with my friend Indiana at Sydneys coffee house over in NW. It was so fun!!!! There are toys, loads of room to crawl, and good coffee for my mom. Indy and I chased each other, snacked on some crackers and then got to meet all sorts of new kids! Mom learned some tips to use when she takes all these pictures and I got to see what it looks like when little people walk!! Speaking of which.... I took my first steps!!!!!!! It ended with me falling into the table but not too shabby for the first try.

Here I am in my new hat. It is so warm and mom tries to find every opportunity for me to wear it. I also got some matching mittens but they are more like socks because there isn't a thumb hole. I like to try and eat them.

Yesterday I got to go play with my friend Violet. We went to Sip & Krantz (another one of our favorite new spots!). It was so great to see her. Both our mommies are busy, so we don't get together that often but when we do it is fun! Violet is learning to sit all by herself.... I can't wait until we can run around after each other, which won't be long! I am off to go christmas shopping with mom and get us ready for our trip to San Diego next week. Mom's friend Anne is getting married and we get to go see it!!!! This will be my first out of state trip and my first airplane ride! It is all so exciting. Happy Thanksgiving everyone and I promise to post lots of pictures from my trip when I return.

Happy Sunday everyone! This was a wild week for me, it included my 9 mos well baby check-up and a trip to the neurosurgeon. My visit with Dr. Lydia went very well! Here are my current stats:

Height - 29"
Weight - 23.1 lbs
Head - 19.5"

I got the first half of a flu shot and was supposed to have blood drawn so they can check my lead levels. These two nice nurses tried and tried and tried to find a vein but had no luck! I will go back to try again next week when I get the second half of the flu vaccine. Dr. Lydia said I am doing great developmentally and that it is time for me to learn to put myself to sleep. Everything was fine, except.... My head is still big!! Friday mom and dad took me to see Dr. Wehby who specializes in baby heads. She checked me out, looked at my ct scan and then decided it was time to measure my parents' heads. Guess what?? We all have big heads!!!!!
Here are some pictures in my new cloths. Mom wanted to get some fun shots for the christmas cards. I tried to attack the tree and I would not sit at all! She may have got a couple pics but my guess is, we will be trying again soon. Today we are watching football with Ben, Danika, and Emily. Yippeee, so much fun!

Messes, A New Friend, and Teeth!

Hello! I finally got a moment to write in between all my crawling, climbing, teething, mess making, and yelling. I am fast approaching the 9 month mile mark and it seems like I am changing a lot. I am making more faces, have more interest in stuff I didn't care about before, and I love feeding myself cheerios!!

I had my first playdate a couple weeks ago with my new friend Indiana. He is a little older than me and so much fun to play with!! We ate yummy lentil soup that his mom, Shelby, made. Then we crawled all over and chased after each other. He is a happy guy like me and I can not wait for the next playdate!!

I am not a 100% at getting stuff in my mouth... it is easier with cheerios because I can grab them. Darwin hangs out underneath my highchair because he gets all the food I drop. I am good at spilling things, let me explain...

Yesterday I went to lunch with Mike, Emily and my mom. We had sushi, which is great because I get tofu and rice! I decided to play a trick on them, I started playing with the chopstick and when Mike tried to take it away, I dove for the very big and very full water glass!! I DUMPED IT ALL OVER!!! It was good everyone laughed because in another 3 years I don't know how funny they will think it is.

Uncle Greg is still living with us but not for much longer, he bought a house! It has been wonderful with him here. He even lets me play his guitar. He says that when I get a little bigger he is going to get me a motorcycle. That makes him the coolest uncle ever.

Ok, gotta run! I will post some updates after my 9 month well baby check-up next week!! Wish me luck, I think I have to get shots again :'(

8 Months and Counting

Hi Everyone, I hit the 8 month mark! Hard to believe that I am that old!! I have been spending a lot of time with my Uncle Greg, Dad, and honing my crawling/bouncing/standing skills. In this picture I am hanging out with Dad in my pen. Mom swears it is going to be the key to her getting through grad school! I like it because I can push it along the floor and it is big enough for me to crawl around in it.
I am eating more and more real food. Here I am trying to get some cheerios into my mouth! Spaghetti is one of my new favorites. Ice cream is pretty good too. My bottom two teeth are almost all the way in and my top two are just starting to show! This is going to help expand my food selection a bunch!!

Other cool new thing is how much air I can get in my johnny jump-up! I look kind of like a little river dancer bouncing ALL OVER!! I even bounce while holding onto the table.... It is soooooooo much fun! I can get the jump-up to swing around and around too. Dad tried to help me one morning but it made me a little woozie.

I crawl, climb, and get into everything!! I am getting to be pretty fast too. I can walk all around the coffee table and really enjoy climbing on the tv. My new game is to see how fast I can get up before Mom or Dad picks me up. This is me on the go! Speaking of which Mom is looking the other way, gotta run....

My New Milestone

So, it has been awhile and I have not been keeping up with my blog because it is BUSY around here!!! I have been to Eastern Oregon, several parties, a board meeting, and visiting all sorts of friends from here and afar!

I think my biggest news is that I can pull myself up to standing!!!!! Once I get to that point I like to let go and try to stand up all by myself... this part is still in need of lots of practice. I use the coffee table, the dining room chairs, Darwin's coat, and friends pant legs. I have had a couple spills and a few bruises to show for my efforts but all in all it seems to be going pretty well.

I am enjoying more and more solid food. Tofu is super yummy! Today I had a bowl of tofu with miso broth at lunch because we went to sushi with Grandma Pam. Mom dumped some water on the table for me to splash, it is probably one of my favorite things to do.

Mom and Dad have been very busy trying to baby proof the house. There was a lot of stuff that was just right for my height, so they had their work cut out for them. They keep saying the house hasn't been this clean in months.

Well, I will try to do a better job keeping updates coming and in the meantime back to crawling and climbing for me... I think I see some stuff they missed :-)

What is this you ask??? The emergence of my first teeth!!!!!! My appearance is about to change because I am getting my two bottom front teeth. It is very exciting and painful all at the same time. It makes me kind of cranky. I am really excited to be able to chew real food though....

How I Love the Beach!

The beach is simply a blast. I just got back from five days down at Lincoln City and it was gorgeous. The weather was perfect! Mom and I packed up the car on Wednesday after lunch with Margaret. She let me pull her hair and play with her bracelet, so so so fun!!! Gina was going to come too but she had a fever and didn't feel well, I really hope she is better!

The drive down south was pretty quick, I fell asleep as we were pulling away from the house and I woke up at the beach! It is like magic , poof there I am in a new spot.

Darwin and I played a lot this weekend. I have also been practicing doing the worm..... up on my knees, lurching forward on my tummy and back up to my knees! It looks really funny but it gets me where I need to go.

Some of the biggest highlights from the weekend were our morning walks with Darwin running around like a silly puppy, hanging out with Aunt Lindsey, playing with Grandpa Rick and Grandma Pam, visiting my great grandfathers highschool, and getting to spend so much time with my Dad!! I love my Dad so much!

I fell asleep this afternoon and woke up back at home... where it was 30 degrees warmer and bathtime was waiting. I am just loving summer time!

Dog Days of Summer

I've got a lot to share about the last couple of weeks. I apologize for not writing sooner, but Mom has been hogging the laptop to finish up her summer classes. I kept reminding her that I want ALL of her attention but she insisted on squeezing in some time for a few papers and lots of reading. She did so well that she gets a month of vacation. Good job, Mom!
I have been busy learning to crawl this month. I shocked the 'rents by getting up on all fours the other day and somehow I fell into a sitting position. I'll be damned if I can't make that happen more often. I am so excited to do some exploring on my own. There is a ton of new stuff that looks like it is within reach and I plan on investigating in all in the coming weeks.
The picture of me crying was caught while Dad and Uncle Greg were having a little fun at my expense. Dad has this awful mooing sound that gets me all worked up. I am not sure if I hate cows or feel so bad for their plight, but I can't help crying my head off. At least I am entertaining.
On Sunday I was hanging out with Grandma Pam in my new Ergo. I swear it is hard to find a comfortable adult saddle. I've been in the Baby Bjorn, but my ride complains of a sore back after a little while. I get in the Hip Hammock every now and again, but that's a one trick pony. I tried a Sotemi briefly and that doesn't really allow me the freedom to look around too much, but it was comfortable. I get into a simple cloth sling once in a while but only briefly. I've got Mom sporting the oh-so-trendy Ergo and I think I like it. I can ride in front, in back, and even on the side, but not facing outwards. Nonetheless, I am gonna stick it out in this one for a while.

In the next few weeks I'll try to give Mom or Dad a chance to take a photo of me really crawling and post it up here. I'll be headed to the beach, to the Gorge, and back to the beach for some fishing before Mom heads back to school in late September. And, before I sign off... congratulations to Ginny and Sam! A Six Month Old Well Baby

Hi everyone, let me tell you - I have been busy! It was my Dad's 29th birthday, so we celebrated by going to Yale Park. I didn't go swimming this time because it was cold outside, it even rained! I think all those that braved the weather had fun.

I had my well baby check-up today, which included the dreaded shots. This time being my third experience, I knew what was coming and didn't cry!! I am still growing bigger all the time... I am 26.75" tall, 20 lbs 2.5 ozs in weight, and my head (still with its own orbit) is 18.5" around. I am going to need a big hat when I grow up!! Dr Lydia was very happy with my progress. She says I am acting like a 9 month old, although she always says I am advanced.

I am getting really good at the scooting, Dr Lydia told my parent they better get to work baby proofing the house because I am going to be into everything before long. I am getting closer and closer to having my knees up under me and I can sit up all by myself for 15 minutes at a stretch! My other new trick is pulling myself up. I have also added some fun facial expressions to my repertoire. It is so great getting big!

I have been spending a lot of time with my Uncle Greg and all my grandparents. Last week Danika came over and we played and played. I also got to see my Great Aunt Mary and Great Uncle Kevin! She brought me back the nicest thing from Scotland.... a Scottish national kilt!!!! I can not wait until I am big enough to run around in my kilt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It even came with a pouch and flares for my socks. This week it is my Aunt Lindsey's birthday and we are going to have everyone over for cake. On Thursday Devaki is coming to watch me while Mom sleeps through public budgeting and Dad works on a new stone pathway for the front yard. Whhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Never a dull moment in the life of a baby!

Honeypa and Me

Here I am with my great grandpa, Honeypa! My Mom named him that a long time ago. He makes me laugh and I always have a good time when I go to his house.

I am one week away from my 6mos birthday and I have started to crawl!!! It is amazing being able to get myself around the floor with out the help of a big person. I am not the most graceful mover but between using my head and pushing with my feet, it seems to work. My Dad calls the action "tripoding". I get to go see Dr. Lydia next week for my well baby check up! Any guesses as to how big I am now???

Auntie Rachel and Uncle Greg Trying to Help Me Beat the Heat

I have been SUPER busy lately!!! One of Mom's very best friends came to visit from Sweden! Her name is Rachel and she was fabulous. I loved spending time with her, she even babysat me while she was here. I can't wait until she comes back.

I have been getting to hang out with all sorts of people lately... Mom has had class all week long and Dad has been working long hours, so everyone from Devaki to Margaret to Mary to Uncle Greg has been watching me. It has been great. I have so much fun with my uncle, even if I cry sometimes, I love every minute of it. It is going to be great when I am old enough to have him teach me to skateboard.

In other news, it has been HOT! I am not a fan of this weather. As you can see, Darwin and I are soooooooooooooooooo warm. Darwin pants to stay cool and I have to rely on others to dump water on my head. I will have lots of blog postings this week because there are so many pictures to share!

So here I am scooting along the floor!!! This is my new trick.... I plant my head in the floor, push up with my legs, and push myself along. It is so fun! I can now roll over on to my back from my stomach, being this mobile is fantastic. When I want to play with something, I can grab it. Mom and Dad are coming to terms with the fact that it is time to Liam proof the house.

I have now made it through the entire Gerber and Earths Best line of 1st step baby food! The pureed stuff is ok, but I REALLY want to eat is all the real food I see everyone else with. When I see other people eating I lunge for the table!

I have learned two other new things this last week. I figured out than I can reach for people and they will pick me up. It is really cool. When I get tired of my chair, I reach out my arms and Mommy picks me up. I can also use this to move from person to person, kind of like a baby version of leap frog. The second game is called "bam bam". It all started the other night when we were playing with my rattle. Mom showed me how to bang the rattle and say "bam bam"..... So now, bam bam means it is time to beat my hands. When I do it, my parents clap their hands and cheer. They are so funny!

The Kitchen Sink is a Great Place to Bathe

Hello everyone... here I am in the kitchen sink sitting in my bumbo chair while mom hoses me off with the water. I love my chair! I sit in it to eat, to play, and sometimes just to take a break from all the rolling and scooting I have been doing. I am getting more and more active all the time! My latest trick is to plant my head in the ground and kick my legs. I can roll over (still to the one side, and only from my back to my tummy) but now I can rotate a full 360 on my belly!!!! It is great to be able to move more. I am also grabbing a lot more and using less pinching movements. Eating has been going very well. I am now enjoying sweet potatoes, carrots, peas, pears, apples, peaches, bananas, and mixed grain cereal. I LOVE to make a mess with my food! My mom put a lot more pictures on the web galleries... so check it out!

A Day in the Life in Liam

Here I am, June 26th 2006, a typical day. This is what a usual day for me looks like:

7:00am - woke up, ate, went back to sleep

10:30am - woke up, had a diaper change, ate, played, ate some more

12:30pm - ate, diaper change, back to sleep

2:00pm - woke up, ate, played in tub, put on a new onesie because the earlier one had sweet potatoes all over, played on my activity mat

3:00pm - ate some sweet potatoes and played with my sippy cup, changed my diaper and clothes (again), hopped in my car seat, set off for another adventure in the car with mom

4:15pm - picked up dad, got dropped off at Pioneer Place with dad while mom went to class, spent some time in the ac rolling around in my stroller

5:45pm - got picked up by mom, went to Powells and heard a story, ate, fell asleep in the bjorn

7:25pm - more food, a diaper change, and back to sleep for the car ride up to NW

7:45pm - woke up in restaurant, saw familiar woman and smelled sushi (mmm mmm), played with chopsticks, saw Uncle Greg and Aunt Sarah, ate

9:00pm - puked on Sarah and Greg, hung out at Mio Gelato beating my little hands on their nice tables, hopped back in the carseat and set off for home

10:00pm - ate, played in the tub, changed my clothes and diaper, ate a little more, fell asleep

That is it.... it seems like mom, dad, and I are always running around and doing lots of stuff. I get to meet new people all the time and still get to see all my friends. Phew, I am a busy baby!!

Rice Cereal is Awesome!

Here I am, 4 months old and eating something besides breastmilk!!!! I got so frustrated watching everyone eat bright colorful food, it even led to me mimicking chewing. Mom and dad started with some very soupy rice cereal. It has gotten thicker and thicker, I really like it! In addition to the cereal, I get water in a sippy cup. That is nothing but a giant mess, but I think it is fun.I had my well baby check up on Thursday and everything seems to be going well. Dr Lydia says I am acting like a 6 month old with all my rolling over, holding my head up, and showing off my standing abilities (of course this is still with help). Here are my new stats:

17lbs 13.5ozs
25.5" long
18.5" head circumference

Because my head is big I have to go in for a cat scan sometime soon, my dr is almost 100% certain it is because I have a big brain because of how fast I am developing but she just wants to be safe. In the meantime, it is time for some more of that cereal!

Chillin' in the Bjorn with Auntie D

Here I am at Newport Beach hanging out in my baby bjorn with my auntie Devaki! We had a great time this weekend and I got to see all sorts of new things. For instance, the fat seals that make all sorts of noise. We went to Mo's and I played with the crackers. I am grabbing more and more things. Another cool new discovery, I HAVE FEET!!!! They are so fun to play with, I can't believe I didn't realize they were there until now.

My other auntie Shainah came home from Chicago this last week and I got to hang out at her house for Shabbat dinner. It was a lot of fun, I miss her when she is away. The last time I saw her I was only a month old! I will be 4 months old on Monday.... it is amazing how time flies. My well baby checkup is on Thursday - so I promise to post some updated stats.

Violet Mai has arrived

I am so excited to introduce my friend Violet Mai. Her mom and dad are catching up on some rest and will probably post something soon. You can see how excited I was when I heard the great news!

I had a great weekend with the 'rents. I feel like I am really getting into my groove and finding my personality. My vowels are coming out clearly and I am increasing my volume. I seem to have my parents trained to talk like idiots everytime I make a peep. I wish you could see and hear it from my perspective.

Here's a bonus picture of me that Dad got artsy with. Mom and Dad are pretty impressed with how easy I have been lately. I've refrained from almost all crying except when I am hungry and I don't get my milk quick enough. That's their fault, not mine.

I love waking up at sunrise and that seems to come about 3 minutes earlier every day. Dad loves it too, or at least that's what I hear him muttering at me when I wake up.

I've been spending more time on my tummy this last week and I am starting to like it. My back and neck are pretty strong which isn't surprising considering my big head - it's like an orange on a toothpick.

Mother's Day and My Chins

So here I am getting bigger all the time, I am now over 3 months old and have made all sorts of progress. While I am usually sleeping 6-8 hours every night, last week was a little difficult for me. I had pink eye and mom had to put these drops in my eye, yuck! I am also getting my teeth and that hurts so bad... I like it when mom and dad massage my gums. I am also getting better at sitting, it isn't as fun as standing but it is still pretty neat.

Sunday was mother's day. I got to finger paint for grandma - I had red feet and blue hands!! Mom and dad laughed the whole time because I kept getting paint all over. We went to dinner at Sinju with Uncle Greg, Aunt Lindsey, Grandma and Grandpa. It was yummy, I love those philly rolls!! The nice lady who greets people took me for a little bit while everyone was eating. I got to meet all the servers and the chefs! The lady said I smiled for everyone :-)
After dinner we walked through Jameson Square and then got some gelatto! Then we played in another park and took a bunch of pictures. I was completely fascinated by the trees, the light and all of the action. It is already over 70 degrees outside!! This hot weather makes me sleepy............

Picture Time!

Here I am... almost 3 months old and getting bigger everyday. My Mom made me pose in a couple different outfits this weekend, so she could get some new pictures. Since my parents have a digital camera, they take lots and lots of pictures.

I have been busy growing and learning to kick my feet. My favorite thing to do is sit in my bouncy chair and kick the animals that hang down. It makes me laugh, squeal and yell because it is so much fun. My other favorite activity is standing (with the help of a big person, of course!). My legs are getting super strong!

My parents got a new car, so I have been spending a lot of time in it. It is a volvo and it has a rear seat that will be a lot of fun when I am old enough.

This weekend was busy!! Friday night I had my first night of babysitting!!! Grandma came over while Mom and Dad went to the movies. It was a blast. I love Grandma a lot! Then on Saturday we had dinner with Gina and Andy. It was delish and I got to show off my little legs. We had a bbq on Sunday because the weather was so nice. It was great to see some of my aunties!

Me and My Big Head

I had to go see Dr Lydia for my 2 month check up yesterday and it was not fun! I didn't mind the first part... getting weighed, having my height and head measured, laughing at Shivon, seeing Dr Lydia but then I got poked in the leg! Three times!! I now weigh 14lbs, am 23.5" long and my head is 17" around. My head is so big that I am bigger than the 100th percentile for my age! Lydia said there is no need to worry, it probably means I will be a smart kid. I showed her my new tricks, like standing, supporting my head and cooing. I guess that standing is a 4 month old trick.

After the shots yesterday, I was not very happy the rest of the day and needed to be cuddled a lot. I have been sleeping a lot more at night, last night I was asleep for over 7 hours! Mom thinks I must be getting ready to grow again. She has school again tonight, so I get to have a guys night with my dad.

My Two Months of Growth

Yesterday marked two months out in the world. I've accomplished a few milestones along the way.

I now hold my own head up.
I can babble pretty good, especially when I am eating in the middle of the night and Daddy is sleeping.
I can "stand", or at least support my own weight while on my feet and in Mommy or Daddy's hands.
I've started wearing 3-6 month-sized clothing.
I can smile and laugh (see picture).
I entertain myself by staring at toys held above my head. This is different than the usual staring at fans and lights. My toys seem to be alive and I interact with them somewhat.
I can ride in the baby bjorn face out.
I sleep in my bassinette at night.
I've totally grown out of the whole swaddling thing.

I start immunizations on Monday and I get to see Dr. Lydia and Shivon to get my check-up. Mommy and Daddy are obsessed with my weight and height whereas I just like to eat... often! In the next couple months, I am looking forward to sitting up, grabbing stuff, and mostly to learning how to stick EVERYTHING in my mouth!

My First Trip to the Beach

On Friday my mom decided it would be a good idea to go watch the sun set at the beach. So, we packed up Darwin, picked up dad and went to Cannon Beach. It was kind of cold but I had a lot of fun riding in my Baby Bjorn. I can't wait until I am old enough to ride looking outwards! While it is very comfortable to lay my head on dad's fleece, I just can't see very much. After our walk on the beach and playing some fetch with Darwin, we stopped at Mo's for dinner to go. It was a lot of fun!

Last night was moms first day back in school, so I stayed at home with dad. I really like dad and me time, I stayed awake and talked to him almost the whole time. Well, it is sunny outside so mom and I are headed out to do some weeding!

Here I am with my uncle Greg.... my grandpa Ed had his birthday on Sunday, so we had a lot of people over for dinner and cake. I tried to stay awake as long as I could but it makes me so sleepy! Yesterday morning I stayed awake for 5 whole hours!! I keep growing and getting bigger every day... I can hold my head up for long periods of time, have been smiling at people and talking, a lot :-) In fact, I really like talking. I can coo, laugh and squeek. When I am hungry or mad I can even yell!

Today I went to lunch with my grandma. I stayed awake the whole time and then I had my afternoon snack in the boardroom at her work. My mom has been finding some neat places to feed me! Before lunch, we went shopping for my new friend Violet. She isn't here yet but she will be soon.... I am going to help her learn how to deal with being on the outside because it is VERY different. Thats it for now, it is dinner time for me!

So Mom got a new phone and has been taking a lot of pictures! I am still sleeping a lot but while I am awake I like to practice making faces and being noisy. One of my favorite things to do is be loud when Dad is trying to sleep.

I have also now been to 3 restaurants! I went to sushi, Mexican and yesterday Italian with Don Flora. I really like his laugh.

I am smiling more and trying to interact with people. I can't believe I am almost 7 weeks old!! I now weigh 12lbs 6ozs and while some people have been saying I am a fat baby, Doctor Lydia says I am not. I am just growing and storing up energy.... in fact, I think it is time to eat some lunch!

So this is me being used as a political expression space by my Mom. Aunt B bought me this shirt and while it will be a long time before I can vote, hopefully there won't be any Bush's left to run for office! I am now over a month old and am speedily outgrowing all my newborn clothes! President Poopyhead is meant for babies 3-6 months and it is still a little big but if I keep eating like I have been, it should fit soon!

Dad and I stayed with Mom at the hospital for a couple days this week because she had to have her gall bladder taken out. From what I heard the doctors say, it happens a lot to new mommies because of their hormones while we live in their tummies. They let us come home Tuesday night and Mom seems to be feeling better every day. I sure hope that is the last time we have to go to Providence for a while.... I prefer my bed here much more than the plastic bassinettes!

3 Weeks and Counting on the Outside!

So I am now into my third week of life outside mommy's belly.... it has been so nice seeing the faces that belong to many of the voices I have been hearing for the past 9 months. I am starting to spend more time awake, even though I still sleep most of the day. Growing is really hard work!! I am now almost 10lbs and am over 21 inches long. I had my 2 wk check up and Dr Lydia says I am doing very well.

Today I went and had lunch with my Grandma at her office. When we go outside Mom pushes me in my big stroller... it is very comfortable and she has a place for her lattes! I am sleeping more regularly at night and this makes Dad VERY happy because he needs his sleep (he can't nap all day like I can). I think the only other being in our house that sleeps as much as I do might be Darwin. All this talk of sleep is making me tired - I think it is nap time for me!

I am beginning to stay awake much more in the last few days. With all that time, I have begun to learn how to move my face more. Here is a shot of me demanding more milk -- I am an expert at this look.

Mom and Dad have been getting plenty of sleep at night because I am letting them. I usually sleep three to four hours at a time, twice between 10pm and 7am.

My Stump is Gone!

Well, it was a very big day today... I am celebrating 10 days out of my Mom's belly by shedding my umbilical stump!! From the looks of it my belly button will be an innie but Dad says it is still too early to tell. My Dad said he will post before and after pictures for everybody, even though Mom thinks it is a little gross.

My parents meal angels have been a lot of fun! Last night Gina and Andy came over with some amazing pasta, salad, bread, chicken and cake. Gina held me and fed me, she is wonderful. Tonight I get to see Margaret again, she is very fun and makes me laugh. The last time she was here she tried to teach me how to suck my thumb... I am still working on it.

The Doc, The Uncle, and My First Spew

Today was my first visit with my doctor. She's GREAT! She said my color was looking wonderful and all my vitals are good. I need to put on a little more weight and I am working on my feeding habits to make sure that happens soon.

Uncle Greg came over again tonight. He has been by several times since I got home and I love it. Dad says we're lucky because he works so near our house and we get to see him so often. I wasn't exactly Mr. Excitement while Uncle held me, even though he jiggled me to wake me up. I did get his attention later when I had my first big spit up on Mom after I was fed. She said something about "exoricist baby", but I don't know what that means.

My New Friend

This is my new friend Darwin, he has lived with my parents for over a year now and I am not sure how happy he is that I have stolen his spot on the bed. He really likes to lick my head! My first bath was a lot of fun and I didn't cry once. Today I saw Grandpa Ed, my Dad's cousins, Grandma Pam, Aunt Lindsey and Uncle Greg. I spent more time awake than any day so far.... it has made me very sleepy!

Hello Everybody

Hi! Today I am about 5 days old and I spend most of the day sleeping. Mom thinks I spend most of the time eating but that is probably because it takes her so long to get everything ready for feeding. This morning I got my nails clippped, I went to the lactation center to be weighed (I gained 4 ounces.. the nurse seemed very happy about that), and I am about to go take a bath after I eat, again.
